This is "just temporary".
Wow life has been quite a whirlwind these past few days, and everyone, including myself seem to still be spinning. Saturday, March 21st was quite an emotional day for myself personally, as many of you had seen over my Instagram story and Facebook post, my studio has had quite the...well, makeover. Monday all non-essential businesses were told to close their doors, and so that is what I did. The following days my husband and I chatted about adding a playroom for our little ones as this social distancing seems to be a long "temporary" road ahead and they are going to need a larger place of their own to unwind. As we thought about it, the more sense it made to turn my studio room into their bonus room, so Saturday, that's is just what happened.
Little by little I packed away the tiny newborn outfits, boxed up the cute, little wood props and rolled up the "wood" floors. Within an hour what was once my humble studio was now bare, for the most part, empty room. In that moment all of this seamed so surreal, the ghost town that is our current outside world was now also in our basement. I am going to sincerely miss capturing the milestones and memories for each of my clients during this pandemic but I know this is only temporary, even if that temporary lasts a few weeks or even a few months.
Now the room that once captured moments in time for families is now a room filled with laughter, Blippi songs and play dough. Our kids couldn't be more excited, and while this new "normal" is going to take a bit of getting used to I am thankful to have this time to take and just be present with my family. I cannot wait to begin capturing families, milestones and tiny, squishy newborns again once this is all behind us. Summer, summer will be filled with these memories and sessions and I am beyond excited. While I will dearly miss my studio having a space of its own, where I am not setting up and tearing down every session, I am excited as to where this new, unplanned chapter has in store for my business. To those of you that have been with me from the start as "Little Moments" where I worked out of my living room, we will be circling back to those times. But I a happy for this because it will allow me to get back into more natural light and to better create more timeless portraits.
In the coming days I will be launching my new name, brand and slowly introducing IPS (In Person Service) to my clients. Stay tuned as there is a lot in store for my 2020, despite how...interesting these first few months have been for everyone. I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy and has not gone stir crazy just yet. Maybe in a couple of weeks, am I right?! Xoxo,
